The present church of St James was built in 1896 at a cost of £500 and was designed by architect George Fagg. Constructed in timber, it consists of a nave, transepts, apsidal sanctuary and a spire.1

The organ was built in 1932 by Geo. Fincham & Sons Pty Ltd, of Richmond, Victoria.

Manual ranks divided into bass and treble2
Tonal work was carried out in 1984 by Brian A. Clark when pipework from several stops was replaced with new material supplied by Geo. Fincham & Sons.3
In 2016 the organ was rebuilt by Australian Pipe Organs Pty Ltd. This involved a new electro-pneumatic action, three-unit windchest, new stopkeys, repainting of the façade pipes, and reduced the organ to three extended ranks.
