The foundation stone of the Church of the Good Shepherd was laid on 24 October 1925,1 and the first portion of the building dedicated on 9 February 1926.2 The architect was Dean W. Berry, of Glenelg who designed the building in a Romanesque style. It is of brick construction, with a campanile to the left of the main façade, which incorporates an apsidal baptistery and a nave with aisles and transepts. The interior is notable for its light and airy construction, focusing upon a wide apse.

The organ was built in 1980 by George Fincham & Sons Pty Ltd at the time when Knud Smenge was the firm's tonal director. It was opened on 28 December 1980.3 The organ is placed at the rear of the building.
