From the Hunter Distric Organ Music Society Newsletter, Vol. 18, No. 1, March 1994:

The first church on the site was opened in 1861 and the present church in 1924.

The organ was built by H. Hibble of Sydney, about 1920, for his home in Bellevue Hill. It was moved to the Mayfield church in 1941 by T.C. Edwards and rebuilt by S.T. Noad in 1969.

In 1993, Peter Jewkes repaired earthquake and water damage including the provision of a new slider soundboard for the Swell, an exact replica of the runined Hibble original, and cleaning and repair of the Great division.

Peter Jewkes adds (Mar 2008) that Ian Brown did further repairs at a later date to the Great.

David Evans reports that as of 2006, an electronic organ has been installed in the church and is now being used with the church trying to sell the pipe organ.
