The present St Andrew's Church dates from 1965, superseding the original church built in 1889.1

The organ was acquired second-hand from England, and was opened and dedicated at Indooroopilly on Sunday 17 July 1988.2 It was built in 1884 by the little-known Yorkshire builders, Driver and Lupton of Keighley, for the Slack Lane Baptist Church, Haworth, West Yorkshire. Having been hastily removed from its former home prior to demolition, the instrument was restored and installed in its present location in 1987-88 by W.J. Simon Pierce.3

Space constraints in the gallery at Indooroopilly necessitated several modifications to the original layout of the organ: The larger pipes of the façade on either side were lowered; the middle façade pipes were slightly shortened; the Swell Organ was lowered; the Choir Organ (originally enclosed and beneath the Swell Organ) was moved to the rear of the organ over the stairwell and left unenclosed; and the action was modified accordingly.4
