The foundation stone of the church was laid on 21 December 18721 and the building opened on 11 May 1873.2 Built from local slate, it was designed by architect E.J. Woods.

The organ was built in 1986 by George Stephens Pty Ltd and consists of two extended ranks with electro-pneumatic action. It is contained within a jarrah organ case and is notable for its substantial construction and appealing sound, belying its small size.
