The two-storey mansion ‘St John’s Wood’ was built in 1870 and in 1881 renamed ‘Wanganella’. Originally with a large land holding and gates on Riversdale Road, the block was reduced and reached its final size in 1956.1 It was designed in a stuccoed Italianate classical idiom with a Doric colonnade to the north and east. The building is heritage listed.2
